A Day With Dr. Searcy

A couple of weeks ago Rhonald was asked to speak to Cole's school about what it is like to go to the doctor.  Of course, the kids all go to the doctor but he wanted to focus on why you should not be afraid.  It was so sweet.  Cole was able to introduce Rhonald to his school and he said, "This is Rhonald.  He is my dad and he is a doctor."  As parents we all have so much pride in our kids and while I was so proud of Cole that day for speaking in front of everyone I was not half as proud as Cole was to have his Daddy speaking in chapel.  Rhonald read a Bernstein Bears book and then taught the kiddos to wash their hands while singing the Alphabet song (so they know they have washed them long enough).  He also looked in Cole's ears and mouth and listened to his heart.  The kids loved it and asked a lot of questions at the end.  The funny thing was that they all wanted Rhonald to look in their ears and mouths.  They lined up, on their own, to be checked out.  Rhonald said the best comment he has ever gotten from a "patient" came from a little girl, Olivia.  After he looked in her ears and mouth she asked Rhonald how they looked.  He said, "Awesome!" and she put her hands on her hips, winked at him and said, "yeah, I know." and walked off.  So cute!
