Did That Really Just Happen?

This past weekend marked a HUGE first for us. We actually went away ... just the 2 of us! And we had a blast!!!! My parents came down to see us on Tuesday of last week and we had so much fun hanging out with them. On Friday I put Cole down for his nap and Rhonald and I jumped in the car and drove a few hours to Kansas City. I have been so nervous about this weekend for months but everything went well and we all had such a great time....and we were able to have some much needed time together. Not to say that we didn't miss our big boy - we did...like crazy but it was still fun and it was easier knowing he was well cared for and having fun too. We decided that we were going to do things that we would not be able to do with Cole and that is what we did. We slept in and then enjoyed an awesome breakfast in our room....we shopped and ate whenever we wanted to....we went to an art museum and went on a carriage ride...we listened to live music. And the best part...we enjoyed very long dinners at places that did not cater to kids!!!! I was proud of myself that I only checked on Cole in the morning and after I knew he was asleep ... but we did talk about him a lot! On the drive home we promised to do something again for our anniversary in March and I am already looking forward to it. I was so excited to see Cole and hug him and kiss him. We got home during his nap so we had to wait a few hours to see him. When he woke up Rhonald and I went in to his room to get him and he jumped up and down on the bed and said "mama, gaggy (that is what he calls Rhonald - not sure why), choo choo." Hey - at least our names were before "choo choo!"

That sounds like a great time, Jenny! Can you believe the ONLY nights I've ever spent away from Adam were when I gave birth to Drew?! At this rate, the boys will be in college before we have a weekend away. lol

KC is a great place for couples though. We spent an anniversary at The Plaza and a carriage ride in downtown KC is where I first fell in love with Matt. I love that city!
